Ricardo Arjona - Caudillo
Album: Independiente

Lyrics & Music: Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales

CaudilloLeader

He began by making pamphlets with popular slogans
A “fatherland or death” sign on the wall, and Che Guevara
He used to defend Karl Marx's capital with fantastic arguments
That's how I met him years ago, at eighteen

Enemy of radio and songs with a chorus
The environment helped him to gain many grudges
He did not miss an opportunity to assert his leader's arguments
And the future loomed with surprises around the corner

Leader, tattoo what you are promising on your skin
Time could turn you into a mercenary
And be just another false prophet

Leader, of the ‘greed’ revolution
There are only a few steps into the breach
Take care and you slip up so easily

He graduated as a lawyer one April and in the process
His ideals began to suffer from rheumatism and ailments
Recruited into a liberal party, he was a representative in Congress
His speech became an expert in lying and debate

I saw him doing “fatherland or death” graffiti wherever he wanted
I was the weakling with a guitar, I do not really know if he remembers
He seems strange in a Ferragamo tie and Louis Vuitton on his briefcase
How easily ideals are adjusted on a whim

Leader, today you whistle the songs on the radio
El Che is no longer the photo in your castle
Today you yourself are the mercenary

Leader, you forgot to tattoo the promises
Where did the supportive(?) boy go
That would share the bread that was on his table?

There is a demonstration outside the government palace
The guy on the presidential balcony
Looks like that boy
