Lyrics & Music: Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales
Intro We spend more than half a lifetime looking for someone who seems a lot like us, so that we may take her to our house and can take a sentimental adventure, but we always say “she has to be like me,” as if we were the greatest thing. Suddenly it happens that after a while of trying to get people like this, you find that after a while she leaves the room, tosses her head and says “night” and you reply “day”, for the hell of it, nothing more. You say “white,” she says “black”. You like football, she likes baseball. Then you begin to make mistakes. You try to get out of the place, turn round to look and assume that she would have to be there, but she cleared off before you. You go and look for a new path in your life. Then you are looking for a woman who seems a lot like you, one that likes football too. And you get a girl who likes football, and she gets a guy who likes baseball, and each begins their new journey. It happened to me, and it was awesome when I began going out with this girl, because I used to say “Today I feel like… I don't know… going to the cinema,” and she said “That's just what I was thinking . I also want to go the cinema.” We used to go to a bar. I asked for a drink. I said “Give me a tequila please” and she said “I also want a tequila. I love tequila.” Then everything changes and everything became something so wonderful, and so organized, and so perfect that fourteen days were enough for me to get totally bored of that woman. While on the other side, the one that went with the baseball guy was undergoing the same story, except she endured a little more than me. She endured fifteen days. On day sixteen we talked on the phone, we set a date in a café, we chatted for a while and came to the wonderful conclusion that in order to be friends it is most important to be quite similar and in tune, but in order to be lovers and make love there is nothing better in the world than being different. That's why I wrote this song: |
Quien Diría | Who Could Say |
Who could say that mink and denim Might merge one day, who could say. You, caviar, and me, tortilla, who could say. It seems that love does not understand capital gains You go to the bank and I prefer a piggy bank. I listen to Serrat and you prefer Locomía. You get to the point, I go via fantasy. It seems that love does not understand ironies Chorus 1: Who could say, who could say that We have now spent years together hand in hand. Who could say, who could say that the important thing Is accepting you and that you accept me like a human being Chorus 2: If that I love you and that you love me is irony What a blessing of mine To wake up next you every day Me, troubadour, and you economics student. You with the numbers, me with philosophy. And though it might sound impossible in theory Utopias matter little to love People say that you and me are not suited Through being water and oil - what irony. If we were the same, how boring. We would not have anything to talk about day after day Chorus 1,1,2 |
