The Curse Of The Seas |
How many secrets are in the candles' twinkle? Shadow after shadow they spin their tale About mutinous wanderers of the seas Cursed for ages We are going to foreign shores At the mercy of fair winds again. The ocean will again start singing Its wordless songs to us The lights go out quickly on bidding farewell. The familiar quay disappears But we will have to come back home So good-bye sadnessOur journey from India was long. The compass sometimes went crazy. We swore by the saints to become sea wolves When a wave threw us towards the sky Each of us was faithful to the captain. He was cruel and did not forgive weakness. Like a beast, he smelled the rocks during fog And he read the map of the stars like the “Our Father” And under white sails through hurricanes And in dreams of a sleepy sea towards shores We fly like an arrow, peace thrown into the night The wind helpful to us Chorus: Full ahead, the ocean gives us luck again. Flame and ice seem like fun to us. Nothing but ahead under the flag of its dark glory. Our “Flying Dutchman” is a visitor from the kingdom of shadows The curse of the seas! One day the world exploded in a wild storm. The ninth wave threatened us with death But the captain reigned over the watery abyss Holding the steering wheel with an iron hand He had wished to fight a storm for at least a century. On boarding he took on the wild ocean. The Lord marked the arrogant man out with a curse. A lightning strike burned our souls And under black sails through hurricanes And without wind, in complete calm through clouds There is no mercy for us, in endless darkness We are looking for the coast ChorusThere are no ships that will pass us by. Those who are braver, reefs torment at a dreaded hour. Everybody is stifled by fear, like a hangman's noose. Salt on the lips, like hot blood We sow death without sparing the ships. Into the distance, like a tornado, we race away from the earth. Revenge, not blood, warms us like rum. We drink the sailors' lives to the dregs, glorifying the stormWe are all forever slaves Of the boundless expanses. There is no threat of escape for us. We are shackled by a mystery × 2 Chorus The curse of the seas! × 3Those who remain among the living are afraid And not the dead of the ancient legends. Shadow and light draw signs of fate At midnight, on walls' stone |
